Trophies and Medals for a Basketball or Volleyball Tournament: A Guide for Organizers

A basketball or volleyball tournament means hours of preparation: game schedules, referees, gyms, volunteers. Yet the awards are often ordered at the last minute. They are what players take home and keep on a shelf for years. Here is how to plan them well. Start by deciding who you want to recognize. For teams, a championship trophy and a runner-up trophy are the basics. For players, medals are the most practical choice: light, affordable and easy to hand out on the podium. Many organizers combine both: a large trophy that stays with the club or travels from one edition to the next, and medals for every member of the winning team. Next, think about individual awards. Top scorer, most valuable player (MVP), best defensive player, sportsmanship, tournament all-star team: these honours add value to the event and recognize qualities that go beyond the score. A small trophy or an engraved plaque is enough for these awards, and players of all ages appreciate them. Calculate your quantities by category. If you have several divisions (age, level, women's, men's, mixed), multiply the number of players per team by the number of places that will be recognized. Plan a few extra medals for last-minute replacements, since rosters often change. Personalization makes all the difference. With laser engraving, we can add the tournament name, the year, the category and the final ranking. Color printing lets us reproduce your organization's or sponsors' logo, which gives a professional look and recognizes those who support the event. Send your logo in a good-quality format from the start to avoid delays. As for budget, it is best to order early. You save time, avoid last-minute fees and can adjust quantities if registrations change. At Mr Trophée, we guarantee the best price in Canada, so you can properly reward all your teams without blowing your budget. Once your order is ready, you can pick it up at our workshop in Léry or choose delivery.
