Participation Medals for Youth Sports: Recognizing Every Child the Right Way

Every season, the same question comes up in sports associations: should every child get a medal, or should awards be reserved for the best players? At Mr Trophée's workshop in Léry, we prepare many orders for leagues across the South Shore, the Montérégie and the Montreal area. What we've noticed is that a well-designed participation medal can stay on a child's bedroom wall for years. Why recognize participation For kids aged 5 to 12, fun, friendships and progress matter more than rankings. A medal given to everyone simply says: "You were part of the team." You can then add a few targeted awards, such as sportsmanship, effort or most improved player, to celebrate qualities that don't show up on the scoreboard. Choosing the right format The medal is the classic choice for a large group: light, affordable and easy to wear on a ribbon. A small trophy suits smaller teams or the highlights of an end-of-season party. As for plaques, they are perfect for thanking coaches, team managers and volunteer parents. Personalizing without overcomplicating On a small medal, simplicity wins. Include the association's name, the sport and the season, then add the logo in full-color printing for a lively result. If you want to laser-engrave each child's name, check the spelling against the final registration list before confirming your order. Planning the right quantities Counting registered players is not enough. Plan a few extra medals for players who joined mid-season, as well as for coaching staff. If you keep the same design from year to year and only change the date, next season's order will be much easier. Staying on budget and on time For an association managing dozens of children, every dollar counts. That's why we offer the best price guaranteed in Canada. To avoid surprises, order a few weeks before your event: you'll have time to approve the proof and fix any details. You can then pick up your order at the workshop or have it delivered.
