Thanking Your Volunteers: Plaques and Awards That Truly Mean Something

Sports leagues, tournaments, recreation committees, parish councils, foundations: without volunteers, nothing runs. Yet their thanks often comes down to a message in an end-of-season email. An engraved item presented in person shows that their time was noticed and appreciated.
Here are the most popular formats. An individual recognition plaque suits someone who has stood out or who has given several years of service. A medal or small trophy is ideal for an annual evening where the whole team is thanked. A group plaque, displayed at the clubhouse or arena, lets you add the volunteer of the year's name each year. Finally, engraved gifts such as a glass, keychain or pen are perfect for a more modest but personal gesture.
When it comes to engraving, keep it simple: the person's name, the organization's name, the year and a short, sincere sentence. For example: "Thank you for your time, your energy and your smile." Short text reads well, stays elegant and avoids layout errors.
For the budget, a balanced approach works well: the same item for every volunteer, plus a more distinctive award for the volunteer of the year. A group order also lowers the cost per person. At Mr Trophée, we guarantee the best price in Canada, which helps organizations do more with a limited budget.
Think about the calendar. National Volunteer Week in April is a perfect time to thank your people, but end-of-season galas work too. Allow at least two to three weeks for design and engraving, especially if you need to confirm names or add logos.
On presentation day, take a few seconds to say what the person actually accomplished: "You built the tournament three years in a row." That detail gives the gift its full value.
